How would smoking pot affect someone with a heart condition?
My friend has a heart condition called supraventricular activity that very rarely causes his heart to beat at around 215 beats per minute. However, this same friend is interested in smoking marijuana. I think this might be a bad idea. What do you think?
Some immediate physical effects of marijuana include a faster heartbeat and pulse rate, bloodshot eyes, and a dry mouth and throat. No scientific evidence indicates that marijuana improves hearing, eyesight, and skin sensitivity. Studies of marijuana’s mental effects show that the drug can impair or reduce short-term memory, alter sense of time, and reduce ability to do things which require concentration, swift reactions, and coordination, such as driving a car or operating machinery.
I have supraventricular tachycardia and i am strongly advised my cardiologist not to do recreational drugs (and that includes pot). I am glad that i haven’t experimented on pot or any recreational drugs in my entire life. I vouch if your friend is interested in pot, one day he/she will end up in the emergency room. It may be the supraventricular tachycardia or something else due to the pot he/she has taken. Aside from having this condition, I am a nurse and I have seen a lot of teenagers and young adults who experimented on drugs that end up debilitated because of this. It may or may not happen to your friend but it is better to be forewarned and be aware of the adverse effects of these drugs.
