How to tighten the front wheel on a new 2006 Honda Rebel?
Just bought a brand new Rebel. I took it home and realized that the front wheel was a bit crooked when I held the handlebars straight. So I gave it a few little kicks to the left and to the right until it was straight. Now I don’t know where and how to tighten it. I tried to tighten the allen bolts toward the top of the fork, but that did not do it. So again, the wheel is crooked and needs tightening, not the actual fork itself. Any suggestions?
I did not kick it hard, just a few taps to get it center. As of this moment, it is straight and would need something to knock it to make it crooked again. I am just not sure on where to tighten. If the dealer was close to me I would be happy to take it there. But it’s more than an hour away and I would have to find a way to get the bike there. Just to be clear about the situation, the tire wasn’t way off, just slightly. It was a minor adjustment. Thanks all!
The forks are twisted in the triple clamps, you need to loosen the triple clamp bolts just enough to twist the bars straight while you hold the tire with your legs. Do this facing the bars, and only loosen the bolts enough to align the wheel otherwise the forks may slide up in the clamps. Then tighten the bolts down and check the alignment, it may take a try or two to get it just right. Stop kicking the wheel, all that will do is damage the wheel or your foot.
