Spd Bose
Z4 3.0i or G35 coupe?
I have a choice between 2 used cars, and I need some help deciding. They are:
2004 Infinity G35 coupe – 68,000 miles (Has Brembo brakes and Bose sound upgrade) – can get it for $14,500
2003 BMW Z4 3.0i – 41,000 miles (Has Premium package, premium sound, and convenience package) – can get it for $14,000
Both cars are 6 spd manual.
Now, I am having a real hard time deciding. I like the G more, but I cant help but feel that the Z would be a better value for my money. Another thing, the Z is a 1 owner car owned by an old couple who I know most likely never abused the car. The G on the other had is owned by a young man in his 20′s. He says he bought it at 50,000 miles from the first owner who was an “older” lady. I don’t know how much of that is true but based on that which car would you guys recommend? The engine in the G is the VQ35 which ‘should’ be a great engine, but anybody with personal experience with it wanna elaborate on it? Thank you.
I’ve driven both of these cars, and I can easily say that I would prefer the Z4 Convertible over the G35.
The 3.0i liter in this model has a fantastic in-line 6 cyl 225bhp engine giving a fun crisp acceleration, more involving and a surge towards peak RPM giving you a feeling of full extraction through effort in this engine. Plus the in-line format is the smoothest design for an engine. The open air experience is priceless and the long hood with seating position near the axle makes for a unique experience.
The G35 is quite different, handles well, accelerates about at the same speed but does it in a bit of a more lifeless manor. If you care about passenger seating or in-car features or usefulness, this car is preferred. Only you can answer that question.
PS> The wheels should be matched in diameter in the front and back of the Z4 to improve handling..
